Job Title: Energy, Environmental, And Infrastructure Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm based in Kansas City, MO, is currently seeking a transactional associate with 3-7 years of experience to join its expanding Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure team. This position is ideal for a legal professional with a background in complex project development, M&A, and commercial agreements across the renewable energy and natural resources sectors. Duties:

  • Manage and execute transactional matters related to energy and infrastructure projects

  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on commercial contracts, including:

    • Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)

    • Build-Transfer Agreements

    • Operations & Maintenance Agreements

    • Shared Facilities Agreements

    • Procurement and supply contracts for equipment and materials

  • Support engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements for renewable energy generation projects

  • Assist with structuring and negotiating joint ventures, asset acquisitions, and divestitures in the energy sector

  • Collaborate with teams on project finance and equity financing matters

  • Participate in client development and relationship management efforts

  • Maintain oversight of multiple projects and meet evolving client expectations

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-7 years of legal experience, ideally from a large or mid-sized law firm

  • Prior work involving complex M&A or infrastructure transactions in the energy sector

  • Familiarity with renewable energy project lifecycles and related legal documentation

  • Experience in oil and gas transactions is considered a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities under a deadline

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to a U.S. state bar in good standing; Missouri Bar preferred, or willingness to obtain

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation acumen

  • Ability to work independently and within a team framework

  • Adept at managing multiple client demands

  • Detail-oriented with sound judgment and analytical thinking

  • Interest in clean energy, infrastructure, and regulatory matters
