A law firm in Scottsdale is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney with at least 5 years of experience to advise on a wide range of environmental matters, including mergers and acquisitions, permitting, risk mitigation, compliance, and renewable energy projects. The candidate will work closely with colleagues and clients, providing expertise in environmental law and regulatory compliance.

 

Duties:

  • Advise on environmental matters associated with mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing transactions.
  • Provide counsel on permitting related to stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Assist with risk mitigation strategies and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Address emerging contaminants and renewable energy projects.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental issues.
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, permits, and compliance plans.
  • Interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups and engage directly with clients.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Experience with federal environmental laws and standards (CERCLA, NEPA, RCRA, etc.).
  • Transactional experience and familiarity with state and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites preferred.
  • Portable business preferred.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues and provide strategic advice.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Experience with transactional matters and renewable energy projects is beneficial.
