Job Overview: A law firm in Morris Plains, NJ is seeking an Associate Attorney with a strong focus on immigration law. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of attorney experience in immigration, be an active member of the State Bar, and possess a commitment to excellence and furthering immigrant rights. The candidate must be bilingual in Spanish and English, possess strong writing skills, and demonstrate a growth mindset.

Job Duties:

  • Reviewing application packets for EOIR filings, family-based, consular, U-Visa, SIJS, VAWA, T-visa, and waiver petitions.
  • Working closely with the legal team to ensure clients receive the highest level of service.
  • Devising, finalizing, and customizing immigration strategies for potential clients.
  • Drafting immigration and family pleadings, briefs, and motions.
  • Supervising and delegating work to paralegals and assistants.
  • Preparing for and attending virtual and telephonic immigration and family court hearings and interviews.
  • Supervising applications and ensuring the legal team understands the strategy.
  • Supporting paralegals, the CEO, and the entire legal team in a streamlined manner.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of attorney experience in immigration law.
  • An active member of the State Bar.
  • Strong and demonstrated growth/continuous improvement mindset.
  • Commitment to excellence and furthering immigrant rights.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems and procedures.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-organization skills with attention to detail.
  • IT Skills: Google Workspace/Suite, Excel, Slack, Monday, Immigration Case Management Systems.
  • Ability to react with appropriate urgency to situations and requests.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment and responsiveness towards clients, legal team, and CEO.
  • Very strong writing skills.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • An active member of the State Bar.
