Job Title: Project Finance Senior Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in New York City is seeking a highly experienced attorney to join its Energy & Infrastructure practice group as a Senior Associate. This role centers on sophisticated, cross-jurisdictional project development and financing matters across Latin America. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience advising both sponsors and lenders on complex transactional matters within sectors such as energy, transport, natural resources, digital infrastructure, and industrial services. Spanish and/or Portuguese fluency is preferred for seamless collaboration with regional clients.

Duties:

  • Serve as lead associate on cross-border energy and infrastructure finance transactions

  • Structure, negotiate, and draft financing documents for projects involving major financial institutions, sponsors, and investors

  • Represent both lender syndicates and corporate clients across various project sectors including oil & gas, renewable energy, telecommunications, logistics, mining, and water infrastructure

  • Coordinate multi-jurisdictional legal teams and liaise with local counsel across Latin America

  • Provide strategic legal guidance from deal origination through financial close

  • Support partners in managing client relationships and executing high-profile mandates

  • Supervise junior attorneys and contribute to knowledge development within the practice

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of experience in project finance or related fields, with emphasis on Latin American transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex financial transactions with limited supervision

  • Prior exposure to both commercial lending and capital markets deal structures

  • Familiarity with key regulatory frameworks affecting cross-border infrastructure projects

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar

  • Member in good standing

Skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is strongly preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities

  • Proven leadership capabilities and ability to manage client expectations

  • Deep understanding of transactional risk allocation and finance structuring
