Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking a 2nd to 4th year Associate Attorney to join its Data, Privacy, and Cybersecurity practice group. This role will involve counseling leading technology companies on complex privacy and cybersecurity issues, including incident response, regulatory compliance, and data-related aspects of corporate transactions. The ideal candidate will be eager to take on significant responsibility, support high-profile clients, and help shape the evolving legal landscape in cybersecurity. Recruitment is being conducted on behalf of the firm.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients during and after significant cybersecurity incidents

  • Counsel on privacy and cybersecurity regulatory compliance at state, federal, and international levels

  • Support cybersecurity and data privacy aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and technology transactions

  • Provide strategic guidance on legal issues related to threat intelligence and security research

  • Assist in drafting incident response plans, internal policies, and compliance protocols

  • Monitor emerging legal developments and provide proactive client updates and recommendations

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of legal experience with a focus on data privacy, cybersecurity, or transactional work involving technology

  • Experience with incident response or investigations is preferred

  • Government agency or regulatory background in cybersecurity is a plus

  • Interest in helping cutting-edge companies navigate evolving cybersecurity laws

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of the office location

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is a plus

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills

  • Ability to analyze complex regulatory frameworks and translate them into practical advice

  • Comfortable managing high-stakes matters for fast-moving clients

  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset

  • Ability to take initiative and handle increasing levels of responsibility
