Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a skilled Transaction/Regulatory Attorney for an in-person position in their Washington, DC office. The firm’s energy transactional practice handles a wide range of matters, including power purchase agreements, EEIs, ISDAs, gas prepays, and energy storage services agreements. The practice also covers regulatory work, particularly before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state public service commissions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2-4 years of experience to work directly with clients and independently manage matters with minimal oversight.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on energy transactional matters, including power purchase agreements, EEIs, ISDAs, gas prepays, and energy storage services agreements.
  • Participate in administrative proceedings related to electric and natural gas practices before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state public service commissions.
  • Draft and negotiate energy-related contracts and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and manage transactions with limited oversight.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to business development efforts and manage client relationships.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in energy transactional and regulatory law.
  • Familiarity with power purchase agreements, EEIs, ISDAs, gas prepays, and energy storage agreements.
  • Experience with regulatory proceedings before FERC and state public service commissions.
  • Strong legal writing and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage client matters independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact directly with clients.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of energy law and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and regulatory matters.
  • Excellent client management and interpersonal skills.
