Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney

A law firm is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney for their office in White Plains, NY. Below is a detailed job description:

Job Overview:

The Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing legal support in workers' compensation claims, including file review, legal analysis, trial preparation, and representation before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.

Duties:

• Perform file review and legal analysis of workers’ compensation claims
• Conduct extensive legal research
• Draft client correspondence, discovery devices, summations, appeals, and appellate briefs
• Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours
• Represent clients at depositions and hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board
• Prepare for trials and attend as required
• Retain and evaluate expert witnesses

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1+ year of experience as a practicing attorney
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admission to practice in the state of New York; admission in other states is a plus
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage, and work in a team environment
• Prompt responsiveness to e-mail and phone inquiries
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner

Education & Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admission to practice law in the state of New York
