Job Overview:

A law firm based in Minneapolis is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in ERISA, employee benefits, and executive compensation matters. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including designing, drafting, and advising on employee benefit plans and executive compensation programs, as well as handling dispute resolution and supporting mergers and acquisitions. Duties:

• Advise on the design, implementation, and maintenance of various employee benefit plans, including defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs).
• Provide legal counsel on employee welfare plans and executive compensation programs.
• Represent clients in employee benefit-related disputes and controversial work.
• Support merger and acquisition transactions with a focus on employee benefits and executive compensation aspects.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with ERISA, tax laws, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate plan documents, amendments, and compliance filings.
• Guide ESOP transactions and advise on existing ESOP plans.
• Work closely with clients to provide strategic legal advice tailored to their specific employee benefits needs.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in employee benefits law, with a strong focus on ERISA and executive compensation.
• Expertise in employee benefit plan design and compliance, including tax laws related to employee benefits.
• Proven experience in advising on ESOPs and handling ESOP-related transactions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.
• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the state of Minnesota (or eligibility to become licensed in Minnesota).

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of ERISA, tax law, and employee benefits regulations.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage client relationships and provide strategic legal counsel.
