Litigation Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney with a minimum of 4 years of experience to manage a substantial caseload of class action commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in legal research, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:

• Handle a substantial caseload of class action commercial litigation.
• Draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
• Draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions.
• Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency.
• Prepare and take depositions of parties and experts.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and prepare status report correspondence.
• Assist with and participate in mediations and court appearances.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Litigation Attorney.
• Class action or commercial litigation experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills.
• Ability to move efficiently from case to case.
• Knowledge of both state and federal court procedures.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Bar in the state of Illinois.

Skills:

• Proficient in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct depositions of parties and experts.
• Familiarity with both state and federal court procedures.
