A law firm in San Diego is seeking a Special Education Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney with a background in special education law. Attention to detail, strong research, writing, and analytical skills are essential for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal representation and counsel to clients in matters related to special education law.
  • Advocate for clients in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, due process hearings, and other proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research, analysis, and case preparation.
  • Draft legal documents such as complaints, due process complaints, settlement agreements, and briefs.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediation sessions, and negotiations.
  • Collaborate with clients, educators, administrators, and other stakeholders to develop effective legal strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes and developments in special education laws and regulations.
  • Advise clients on compliance with federal and state laws governing special education.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Background in special education law.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and advocacy skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar of California.
