Patent Agent (Immunology/Virology)

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a Patent Agent with expertise in Immunology/Virology. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Immunology or Virology and have at least 3 years of experience prosecuting patents in the immunology and molecular biology therapeutic space. They will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, conducting prior art searches, and providing assistance in opinion preparation.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the fields of immunotherapy, gene therapy, cell therapy, and related areas
• Respond to office actions and communicate with patent examiners
• Assist in the preparation of opinions related to patentability, infringement, and validity
• Conduct prior art searches to assess patentability and freedom-to-operate
• Collaborate with attorneys and inventors to develop patent strategies
• Provide technical expertise in immunology and virology to support patent prosecution efforts

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Immunology or Virology
• Admission to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
• 3+ years of experience prosecuting patents in immunology and molecular biology therapeutic areas
• Strong academic credentials
