Job Overview:

The Family Law And Estate Planning Associate Attorney will provide legal assistance and guidance to clients in matters related to family law and estate planning. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of civil litigation and estate planning practices. The position requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Experience with Clio, domestic violence, and probate matters is preferred.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in family law proceedings, including divorce, child custody, and support hearings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including marital settlement agreements, wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various family law and estate planning issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediation sessions as required.
  • Assist senior attorneys in case management and trial preparation.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of North Carolina and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in civil litigation and 1 year in estate planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents.
  • Experience with Clio practice management software preferred.
  • Familiarity with domestic violence and probate matters is a plus.

Education & Certifications:
