Duties

• Provide legal counsel to boards of education and educational institutions on a wide range of matters

• Draft and review school policies, employment agreements, administrative regulations, and contracts

• Advise on legal compliance related to federal and state education laws

• Represent clients in administrative proceedings, board meetings, and other public forums

• Handle legal matters involving student discipline, special education, employment disputes, and governance issues

• Monitor changes in education law and proactively advise clients on potential impacts

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience practicing education law

• Demonstrated history of representing public or private educational entities

• Prior experience in a law firm or government agency handling education matters

• Ability to manage complex matters independently and think strategically

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic credentials preferred

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in North Carolina or eligibility for admission
