Job Title: Collective Bargaining and Negotiations Labor Attorney

Job Location: Seattle, WA

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm based in Seattle is seeking an experienced Labor Attorney specializing in collective bargaining and labor negotiations. This role offers the opportunity to engage in high-level negotiations with both public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in labor negotiations, strong writing skills, and the ability to operate independently. Regular travel throughout Washington is required. This firm provides a collaborative, partner-track environment, and the successful applicant will have a chance to join one of the largest public sector Labor groups in the region.

Duties:

  • Lead collective bargaining sessions with minimal oversight, managing negotiations with employers or unions.
  • Draft and review collective bargaining agreements and other legal documents related to labor contracts.
  • Provide legal counsel on issues related to labor law and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
  • Manage relationships with clients, providing guidance and strategic advice on labor and employment matters.
  • Independently handle matters of significant complexity in the public sector labor space.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and negotiate settlements or agreements as required.
  • Travel frequently throughout Washington State to attend meetings and negotiations.

Requirements:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in collective bargaining or labor negotiations.
  • Demonstrated ability to run bargaining sessions independently.
  • Significant experience representing either employers or unions in labor negotiations.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and NLRA issues.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent drafting skills, with an emphasis on contract language and bargaining agreements.
  • Membership in the Washington State Bar Association or eligibility to obtain membership within a reasonable period.
  • A Washington resident, or a candidate willing to relocate to Seattle.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a State Bar (Washington preferred), or the ability to obtain membership promptly.

Skills:

  • Expertise in labor law and collective bargaining.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents, particularly collective bargaining agreements.
