A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its Chicago, IL, office.

Job Overview:

The Associate Attorney will primarily defend personal injury cases in state court. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in this field and strong litigation skills.

Duties:

  • Defend personal injury cases in state court.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions.
  • Prepare cases for trial (including trial briefs, motions in limine, and jury instructions).

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience in defending personal injury cases in state court.
  • Have proven experience taking and defending depositions, preparing and responding to discovery on time and according to court deadlines, and drafting and arguing dispositive motions.
  • Knowledgeable in state court procedures.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Comfortable engaging in contentious litigation.
