Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property team. This role requires 5+ years of patent prosecution experience with a focus on biotechnology. The ideal candidate will assist with patent prosecution, IP diligence, IP-transfer commercial transactions, and strategic IP business counseling. A graduate degree in a biological science is required, with a preference for a PhD. Duties:

  • Assist with patent prosecution for biotechnology clients.
  • Conduct IP diligence for transactions and strategic business counseling.
  • Provide expertise on IP-transfer commercial transactions.
  • Support clients in IP business strategy and development.
  • Draft patent applications, amendments, and responses to office actions.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and clients on various IP matters.
  • Stay current on developments in IP law and biotechnology.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Strong experience in biotechnology-related IP matters.
  • Admission to the patent bar is required.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple IP matters simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Graduate degree in biological science (required).
  • Preference for a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or genetics.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the patent bar.

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of patent prosecution and IP laws, particularly in biotechnology.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset and business acumen.
