Job Overview: The Criminal Defense Associate Attorney will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, negotiating settlements, assisting with trial preparation, and representing clients in courtroom proceedings. The ideal candidate must possess strong research, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues related to criminal defense cases
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, motions, and agreements
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients with opposing counsel or prosecutors
  • Assist with trial preparation by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing exhibits
  • Participate in courtroom proceedings such as arraignments, hearings, and trials
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and other parties involved in legal matters

Requirements:

  • Admission to the State Bar Association of California
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in legal drafting and document preparation
  • Familiarity with legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
  • Ability to effectively negotiate on behalf of clients
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience in a law firm or legal setting is preferred

Education and Certifications:
