Job Overview
A respected law firm based in New York City, NY is currently in search of a partner-level estate planning attorney. This opportunity offers a blend of meaningful client interaction, independence in managing a caseload, and the support of a collaborative legal team. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys client advocacy, navigating complex family and elder-related legal concerns, and leading a team to deliver exceptional results.


Duties

  • Draft and review a wide array of estate planning documents, such as Wills, Trusts, Advance Directives, Powers of Attorney, and Guardianship pleadings.
  • Advise individuals and families on elder law matters, estate strategies, and legal compliance.
  • Oversee and guide a support team, including paralegals and administrative professionals.
  • Facilitate business and legal transactions in alignment with clients’ long-term needs.
  • Resolve legal disputes through negotiation and litigation strategies when necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of legal practice and uphold ethical responsibilities at all times.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in NY.
  • 21 years of Estate Planning experience.
  • Solid understanding of legal frameworks related to wills, trusts, long-term care, and guardianship.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive client matters with empathy and discretion.
  • Skilled in balancing independent case management with team collaboration.
  • Comfortable leading client meetings and appearing in court.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active licensure with the NY State Bar.

Skills

  • Strong legal drafting and document review capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Amicus Attorney is a plus.
  • High emotional intelligence, especially in client-facing conversations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.
  • Confident presence in client consultations and courtroom settings.
  • Collaborative nature with an ethical and trustworthy approach.
