Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a talented Renewable Energy Tax Associate Attorney to join their New York City, NY team. The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of experience in a law firm, with a strong background in tax credit transactions, tax equity financings, and related tax matters in the renewable energy sector.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and assistance to clients on tax issues related to renewable energy transactions.
  • Advise clients on beginning construction, prevailing wage, and apprenticeship requirements under code sections 45 and 48.
  • Assist clients in M&A transactions, tax equity transactions, tax credit transfers, and other joint ventures in the renewable energy space.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of experience in a law firm specializing in tax matters related to renewable energy.
  • Experience with tax credit transactions, tax credit transfers, tax equity financings, and tax opinion letters.
  • Excellent academic credentials from a reputable institution.
  • LL.M. in taxation is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • LL.M. in Taxation (preferred).

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for admission).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of tax law, particularly as it pertains to renewable energy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
