A law firm in Miami is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent with a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, or possess other engineering disciplines coupled with significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a prerequisite for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent searches and analyses to assess the patentability of inventions in the medical devices and mechanical engineering domains.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to draft high-quality patent applications.
  • Prosecute patent applications before the USPTO, including responding to office actions and participating in examiner interviews.
  • Provide strategic counseling to clients regarding patent portfolio development and management.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering (or related engineering discipline).
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Admission to the USPTO.

 

Education:
