A law firm in Washington, D.C., is actively seeking a qualified Patent Agent with 1-2 years of experience in patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic credentials, superior writing ability, and USPTO admission. While an electrical engineering degree is preferred, candidates with degrees in physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering and relevant experience in medical devices or wireless communications/networking are encouraged to apply.

Duties:

  • Engage in patent prosecution activities, including drafting and filing patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors and legal teams to understand and assess inventions.
  • Conduct legal research to support patent prosecution strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Evaluate and respond to office actions and other communications from the USPTO.
  • Provide technical expertise in electrical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering, with a focus on medical devices or wireless communications/networking.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Ideal candidate will have an electrical engineering degree; candidates with physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering degrees with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Superior writing ability.
  • USPTO admission required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering.

Certifications:

  • USPTO admission.
