A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a Mid-Level Labor and Employment Associate Attorney to represent employers in all facets and stages of employment and labor relations. The role involves addressing complex issues in the modern workplace, particularly in wage and hour class action litigation. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of relevant experience, a strong background in California employment law, and excellent project management, communication, and legal skills.

Duties:

  • Represent employers in various employment and labor relations matters across all stages.
  • Handle complex wage and hour class action litigation and other employment-related legal issues.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on compliance with California employment laws, including PAGA and wage and hour class actions.
  • Conduct legal research and draft persuasive legal documents, including motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials, arbitrations, and mediations as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop effective strategies for addressing employment disputes and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage a diverse and complex caseload, ensuring timely and effective resolution of legal issues.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior associates and legal staff.
  • Maintain and build client relationships through effective communication and high-quality legal service.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of California.
  • 5-7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a strong background in wage and hour class action litigation.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Am Law 100 experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional project management skills and ability to handle a fast-paced, complex workload.
  • Effective and persuasive writing and oral communication skills; law review or similar experience indicating significant research and writing skills is a plus.
  • Proven ability to anticipate issues and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong academic record and performance appraisals of "exceeds expectations" or greater at current firm.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional commitment to succeeding in a collaborative team environment.

Education:

  • JD degree from a nationally recognized and accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Expertise in labor and employment law, particularly wage and hour class actions.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and related regulations.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational abilities.
  • Effective and persuasive legal writing and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and workloads efficiently.
