Job Overview: A law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join their team in Washington, DC. The role offers significant opportunities for direct partner and client interaction within a globally renowned firm.

Duties:

  • Conducted patentability searches and drafted patent applications in collaboration with attorneys and inventors.
  • Assist in patent prosecution matters, including preparing responses to office actions and other correspondence with the USPTO.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical documents to support patentability assessments.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their technology and patent portfolio needs.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on patent-related matters to attorneys and clients.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client and partner interaction.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, computer science, or related field.

Certifications:

  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting patentability searches and prior art analysis.
  • Ability to draft clear and concise patent applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
