A law firm is seeking a Mid-Senior Level Patent Litigation Associate Attorney for their Rochester office. The candidate will work closely with clients, providing strategic solutions to navigate patent laws and protect intellectual property assets. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, negotiating with opposing counsel, conducting depositions, and preparing for trial.

 

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and correspondence for state and federal court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
  • Respond to complex discovery requests.
  • Negotiate and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Prepare for and defend depositions.
  • Prepare for trial, including exhibit lists, evidentiary objections, and witness preparation.
  • Draft Federal Circuit appeal briefs.
  • Supervise and train junior associates.

 

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of patent litigation experience.
  • Significant experience with drafting pleadings, preparing claim charts, Markman proceedings, fact discovery, expert discovery, inter partes reviews, and overall litigation strategy.
  • USPTO admission preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or substantial experience in these disciplines.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Superb judgment and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent client services.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) preferred.
