A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Biotech-Life Science Patent Prosecution/Patent Agent or Scientist with excellent academic credentials, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should possess an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a comparable degree. Previous law firm or industry experience and current admission to the USPTO are required.

 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze patent and scientific literature.
  • Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to strategize patent protection.
  • Manage patent portfolios and assist with patent litigation as needed.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a comparable field.
  • Previous law firm or industry experience.
  • Admission to the USPTO.
  • 2+ years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
  • Experience in biotech commercialization, such as university tech transfer, or industry commercialization/regulatory compliance is desirable.

 

Education:

Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a comparable field.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the USPTO.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in conducting prior art searches and analyzing patent and scientific literature.
