Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Traditional Labor Law Associate for its San Francisco, CA office. The role involves representing employers in traditional labor matters and providing advice on federal and California workplace laws. The position requires a proactive approach to labor relations and compliance with legal standards.

Duties

  • Handle unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
  • Conduct research and draft legal documents.
  • Represent management in NLRB elections.
  • Advise employers on union organizing and related agreements.
  • Negotiate and advise on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings.
  • Obtain mass picketing injunctions.
  • Advise on wage, hour, and workplace issues.
  • Review handbooks and policies for legal compliance.
  • Evaluate compensation and bonus plans.
  • Conduct management training on labor relations and workplace issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 4-6 years of experience in litigation or advisory roles.
  • Traditional labor experience preferred.
  • Experience in federal and/or California advice and counsel work preferred.
  • CA Bar Admission required.
  • Understanding of current agency enforcement techniques preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to travel for business purposes.
