Job Overview

A respected boutique law firm focused exclusively on construction litigation is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its team in Charlotte, NC. This full-time role offers hands-on experience with complex construction disputes, contract drafting, and client interaction from the start. The position provides significant mentorship from seasoned attorneys with large firm backgrounds, as well as opportunities for professional growth and business development within a collaborative, small-firm environment.

Duties

  • Represent clients in construction-related legal matters, including defect claims, lien enforcement, and breach of contract cases

  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and legal correspondence

  • Conduct depositions and participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials

  • Negotiate and draft construction contracts and related legal agreements

  • Perform in-depth legal research and analysis on construction law topics

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to craft legal strategies and solutions for clients

  • Engage with existing and prospective clients to develop legal relationships and a future book of business

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of legal experience

  • Should have interest in construction law or commercial litigation

  • Demonstrated interest in construction litigation and dispute resolution

  • Willingness to engage in business development and client communication

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in North Carolina (or eligibility for immediate admission)

Skills

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical capabilities

  • Knowledge of construction contracts, lien laws, and dispute resolution mechanisms

  • Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
