A law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join their team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The ideal candidate should have 12+ years of litigation experience, focusing on construction defects and general insurance defense matters. Below are the detailed job requirements:

Job Overview:

The Insurance Defense Attorney will be responsible for handling civil cases from inception through trial, including but not limited to conducting depositions, attending oral arguments and hearings, negotiating settlements, and providing regular updates to clients.

Duties:

  • Conducting thorough legal research and analysis.
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Representing clients in mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Managing a caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Providing strategic advice and counsel to clients.
  • Collaborating with other attorneys and support staff within the firm.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience practicing law.
  • Significant litigation and trial experience in construction defect and general insurance defense matters.
  • Proficiency in handling civil cases through trial, including deposition taking, oral arguments, and negotiating settlements.
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Current license to practice law in Florida; additional licensure in other states is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Florida State Bar; additional admissions to other state bars preferred.
