Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Agent with 2-6 years of legal experience specializing in intellectual property (IP) law. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with experience in drafting and patent prosecution.

Duties:

• Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Assist with patent prosecution before the USPTO.
• Collaborate with attorneys and inventors to develop patent strategies.
• Provide technical expertise in patent litigation matters.

Requirements:

• 2-6 years of legal experience.
• IP experience with drafting and patent prosecution.
• Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar.
• Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
• Preference for candidates with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless network, or similar experience.
• Admission to the USPTO.
• Bar licensure in California is a plus.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
• JD from an accredited law school is preferred.

Certifications:

• Admission to the USPTO.
