A law firm in Newport Beach is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation (Patent) Associate Attorney with experience in patent litigation. The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, materials science, physics, or an equivalent degree, with an advanced degree or industry experience being a plus. Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Handle patent litigation matters from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent law.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Assist with discovery, including document review and preparation of discovery requests and responses.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience in patent litigation.
  • Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, materials science, physics, or an equivalent degree.
  • Advanced degree or industry experience is a plus.
  • Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in the Patent Bar preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of patent law and litigation procedures.
  • Legal research and analysis skills.
  • Drafting and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience with discovery and trial preparation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
