A law firm in Columbia, SC is currently seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney. The attorney will handle a caseload of workers' compensation matters from inception to resolution. This individual will be responsible for representing clients in administrative hearings, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and providing legal advice to clients regarding workers' compensation claims.

 

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases.
  • Conduct client intake interviews and assessments.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research on workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and insurance carriers.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients regarding their workers' compensation claims.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on complex cases.
  • Attend mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the South Carolina State Bar and license to practice law in South Carolina.
  • 1-5 years of prior experience in workers' compensation law preferred.
  • Knowledge of South Carolina workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
