Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Junior Environmental Transactions & Regulatory Associate (1st–4th year) to join its Environmental Practice Group. This role focuses on advising clients on complex environmental regulatory matters, including compliance, enforcement, and liability in the context of corporate transactions and restructuring. Ideal candidates will have experience or a strong interest in environmental law, along with exceptional academic credentials.

Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with federal and state environmental regulations

  • Support enforcement matters related to environmental laws

  • Analyze environmental liabilities in connection with corporate transactions and restructuring

  • Participate in environmental litigation and administrative law proceedings

  • Conduct legal research and draft memos, briefs, and advisory communications

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on complex environmental issues

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of legal experience in environmental regulatory law

  • Working knowledge of key environmental statutes such as CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act

  • Experience in environmental litigation or environmental aspects of bankruptcy/restructuring matters preferred

  • Interest in administrative law and environmental policy strongly valued

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic record required

  • Law school transcript must be provided

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effective oral and written communication

  • Ability to manage complex legal projects independently and collaboratively

  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational proficiency
