Job Overview: A law firm in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Senior Family and Divorce Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in family law and domestic relations, with a focus on handling high-volume cases involving divorce, child custody, alimony, and related matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing clients in court proceedings, drafting legal documents, and providing strategic legal counsel to meet clients' needs effectively.

Job Duties:

  • Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases.
  • Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process.
  • Help solve legal problems for clients by analyzing situations, understanding their needs, and creating strategic plans of action.
  • Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed, advocating for their best interests.
  • Prepare necessary legal documents related to prenuptial agreements, divorce proceedings, alimony, child support/custody, and real estate.
  • Handle legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence with expertise and sensitivity.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of litigation experience in the field.
  • 2-5 years of experience specifically in family law and domestic relations cases.
  • Must have passed the Alabama State Bar Exam and be a licensed attorney in good standing with the Alabama State Bar.
  • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations.
  • Undergraduate degree with a legal background.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Proven record of success in advocating for both plaintiffs and defendants in family law matters.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required.
  • Admission to the Alabama State Bar.
