A law firm in Columbia, SC, is actively seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate must possess experience in Intellectual Property (IP), specifically in drafting and patent prosecution. A background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar fields is required. Additionally, candidates with design engineering experience in a chip company or knowledge in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar technologies are highly preferred. The applicant must be admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and have at least 2-6 years of legal experience.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and prepare responses to Office Actions.
  • Conduct thorough prior art searches and evaluate patentability.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and inventors to develop effective patent strategies.
  • Provide technical assistance during patent litigation proceedings.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of patent portfolios.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-6 years of legal experience, preferably in patent prosecution.
  • Solid understanding of Intellectual Property laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:
