A law firm in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a Pre-Litigation Attorney with 2+ years of experience to oversee all aspects of personal injury cases up to the filing of a complaint. The candidate will be responsible for evaluating case merits, providing client counsel, supervising staff, conducting medical case reviews, performing legal research, and negotiating settlements.

 

Duties:

  • Supervise and provide direction to a team of staff members
  • Evaluate the merits of personal injury cases
  • Provide guidance and counsel to clients throughout the pre-litigation stage
  • Review medical records and conduct case reviews
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support cases
  • Negotiate and authorize settlements during the pre-litigation stage
  • Collaborate with clients, staff, and outside parties to facilitate case resolution
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation
  • Handle client inquiries and communications in a timely and professional manner

 

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with client contact and/or negotiation experience
  • License in good standing to practice law in New York
  • Strong research, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent investigator and problem-solving skills
  • Formidable negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • License to practice law in New York
