Consumer Finance Special Counsel

A law firm in San Diego is seeking a Consumer Finance Special Counsel. The candidate will primarily engage in regulatory counseling and drafting, focusing on federal and state consumer lending laws. Expertise in areas such as the Truth in Lending Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act is essential. The role requires substantial consumer finance experience, including advising financial institutions, negotiating contracts, and interpreting licensing requirements.

Duties:

• Provide regulatory counseling and drafting services primarily related to federal and state consumer lending laws.
• Advise on compliance with regulations such as the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
• Draft contracts and lending documents for consumer and commercial purposes.
• Interpret licensing requirements and ensure compliance for financial institutions.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide guidance to clients accordingly.
• Conduct thorough research on consumer finance laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active member of the Bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant regulatory experience.
• Strong background in consumer finance, particularly in compliance counseling.
• Proficient in negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulatory interpretation.
• Preferred experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Education and Certifications:

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction.
