Duties:

  • Work on all aspects of patent practice, with a particular emphasis on preparing and prosecuting patent applications, freedom to operate, and due diligence search and analysis projects.
  • Offer technical expertise in the field of life sciences patent practice.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and in-house counsel to address IP-related issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Conduct freedom to operate and IP due diligence searches and analyses in support of licensing, acquisitions, and research and development activities for small- and large-molecule products.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications and actively contribute to building robust patent portfolios for pipeline products and platform technologies.
  • Liaise with clients, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and foreign associates regarding domestic and foreign patent application processes and strategies.
  • Engage in professional growth and training opportunities with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with talented and team-oriented colleagues across various practice groups and office locations.

Requirements:

  • Must be a registered patent attorney.
  • Hold an advanced degree in biological sciences (Ph.D.) in areas such as molecular or cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, organic chemistry, or biochemistry.
  • Possess 3-8 years of patent experience in the life sciences field.
  • Demonstrate superior academic qualifications and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in a law firm working with patents in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors is preferred.
  • Maintain current registration and good standing with the USPTO.
