Job Overview

A law firm seeks a seasoned Construction Law Attorney with 21 years of experience to handle complex construction disputes, transactional work, and client counseling. The successful candidate will manage high-value matters, guide multi-party projects through regulatory frameworks, and mentor junior team members. Location: Great Neck, NY

Duties

  • Advise clients on construction contracts, surety claims, indemnity provisions, and risk allocation
  • Draft and negotiate design-build, EPC, subcontractor, and supplier agreements
  • Lead litigation and alternative dispute resolution in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration forums
  • Conduct pre-litigation claims analysis, prepare demand packages, and manage settlement negotiations
  • Perform due diligence and risk assessments for construction-related transactions and project financing
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and bonding companies to advance client interests
  • Supervise associates and paralegals, ensuring quality control and compliance with firm standards

Requirements

  • 21 years of construction law practice
  • Admission to the New York State Bar, in good standing
  • Demonstrated success handling high-stakes construction disputes and transactions
  • Familiarity with AIA, ConsensusDOCS, and other industry-standard contract forms
  • Proven business development and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to manage a heavy caseload and adhere to strict deadlines

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State
  • (Preferred) Certification in Construction Law or Dispute Resolution
