Job Overview:

A highly reputable law firm is seeking a skilled Trust & Estates Attorney to join its New York office. This position is ideal for attorneys with 5+ years of experience, particularly those with expertise in complex estate planning, asset protection planning, and trusts & estates administration. An ideal candidate will also have an LLM in Taxation or a CPA. The role offers the opportunity to work on high-level matters in a collaborative environment, with access to interesting work and mentorship from senior attorneys.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and services in the areas of complex estate planning, asset protection planning, and trusts & estates administration.

  • Draft wills, trusts, and other related documents.

  • Advise clients on tax-efficient estate planning strategies.

  • Represent clients in estate administration, including probate and trust administration.

  • Assist clients with the transfer of assets, business succession planning, and charitable giving.

  • Collaborate with clients and other professionals (e.g., accountants, financial advisors) to achieve clients' goals.

  • Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and case law related to estate planning and tax matters.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in trust and estates law.

  • Experience with complex estate planning, asset protection planning, and trusts & estates administration.

  • LLM in Taxation or CPA preferred.

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar.

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • LLM in Taxation or CPA (preferred).

  • New York State Bar membership required.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of trust and estates law, including estate planning and tax laws.

  • Strong drafting and legal research skills.

  • Ability to manage complex legal matters and prioritize workload efficiently.

  • Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.

  • High level of professionalism, ethical standards, and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
