Job Title: Post-Grant Proceedings Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in New York City, NY, is currently seeking a skilled associate attorney with experience in post-grant patent proceedings. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of post-law school experience and be passionate about working in the area of patent law, particularly about invalidity analysis, IPR/PGR petitions, and oral advocacy before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Duties:

  • Perform invalidity analysis of patents and prior art

  • Draft and prepare IPR/PGR petitions, legal arguments, and technical briefs

  • Collaborate with experts and assist in preparing expert testimony

  • Conduct expert depositions and defend them as needed

  • Represent clients through oral advocacy before the PTAB

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred

  • Admission or eligibility for admission to practice in New York

  • Patent litigation experience before the PTAB or the USPTO is highly desirable

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice in New York is required

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO is preferred

Skills:

  • Expertise in post-grant patent proceedings

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities

  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, including petitions and technical briefs

  • Excellent oral and written advocacy skills

  • Ability to collaborate with technical experts and manage expert testimony
