A law firm in Atlanta, GA, seeks an Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience or government experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn new areas of law, including business litigation, personal injury, and family law. Day-to-day tasks will involve legal research, drafting documents, maintaining client files, and providing legal counsel to clients.

Duties:

  • Participate in all aspects of complex litigation, including research, discovery, motions practice, hearings, trials, and appeals in state and federal courts.
  • Research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and appeals.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and directly advise clients on legal strategies.
  • Maintain current awareness of recent legal developments and legislative issues.
  • Organize files and track all deadlines effectively.
  • Research and prepare legal opinions for the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, boards, commissions, and other city staff.
  • Attend and participate in City Council meetings and serve as staff on various boards, commissions, and committees.
  • Serve as a liaison for the City, negotiate and resolve sensitive issues, and respond to citizen inquiries and complaints.
  • Analyze legal conflicts, advise on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, senior associates, and staff to efficiently move cases toward resolution.
  • Prepare legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for negotiations and proceedings.

Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years of relevant experience as an attorney.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • An active member of the ABA.
  • Must have passed the bar exam.

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures.
