A law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney for their Bellingham, WA office. The Litigation Associate Attorney will be responsible for drafting pleadings, motions, and oppositions, and actively participating in discovery, depositions, and court appearances under the supervision of the lead attorney. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and knowledge in personal injury, insurance, employment, and/or discrimination law, with trial experience considered a bonus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and Outlook is required. The ideal candidate should be a dependable team player with a positive attitude, strong communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently with diligent attention to detail, and a demonstrated commitment to their craft. Bilingual fluency in Spanish or Russian, and/or experience with cloud-based practice management programs are bonuses.

 

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, oppositions, and other legal documents
  • Participate actively in discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests
  • Attend depositions and court appearances under the supervision of the lead attorney
  • Conduct legal research as necessary
  • Assist in trial preparation and strategy
  • Maintain communication with clients, colleagues, and court personnel
  • Manage case files and documents efficiently

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Washington State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion
  • 3-5 years of litigation law office experience required, preferably for civil plaintiffs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with diligent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to the legal profession

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Washington State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion

 

Skills:

  • Trial experience preferred
  • Knowledge of personal injury, insurance, employment, and/or discrimination law preferred
