Job Overview: A prominent law firm is looking to add a junior or mid-level Corporate Associate (3rd or 4th year) to its highly ranked Global Fintech and Payment Systems practice in San Francisco. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge financial services, helping clients develop innovative products, negotiate commercial agreements, and navigate financial services licensing and enforcement matters. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and skilled in legal research and writing, with a solid understanding of financial services regulations, particularly in the Fintech or Banking sectors.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on financial services and payment systems, advising clients on regulatory matters.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements related to financial products and services.
  • Assist clients in navigating financial services licensing requirements and compliance issues.
  • Support enforcement-related legal matters, ensuring clients are in line with applicable financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advise on complex regulatory challenges.
  • Conduct legal research and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Draft and refine legal documents, including memoranda, briefs, and policy recommendations.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of experience in Corporate Law, with a focus on Fintech, Financial Services, or Banking.
  • Practical experience with financial services regulatory matters.
  • Experience in negotiating and drafting complex agreements related to consumer finance, payments, and financial products.
  • Familiarity with consumer protection laws and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of California.

Skills:

  • Expertise in financial services regulations and compliance.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think critically and creatively.
