Defense Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a dedicated Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will provide legal representation to clients facing criminal charges and ensure their rights are protected throughout legal proceedings.

Duties:

• Represent clients in criminal defense cases, including but not limited to misdemeanors and felonies.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to prepare defense strategies.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
• Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings on behalf of clients.
• Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors when necessary.
• Communicate effectively with clients, explaining legal options and providing counsel.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Texas State Bar and in good standing.
• Prior experience practicing criminal law, preferably as a defense attorney.
• Strong knowledge of criminal law and court procedures.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle a high caseload.
• Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards and client confidentiality.
