A law firm in Kansas City, MO, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience. The candidate will be responsible for managing assigned caseloads, preparing for and attending trial proceedings, conducting legal research, and effectively handling negotiation and settlement discussions.

 

Duties:

  • Familiarity with all aspects of the trial process, including drafting pleadings, motions, and notices.
  • Manage assigned caseload from case opening to dismissal.
  • Monitor and manage all case deadlines effectively.
  • Consult regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties to move cases forward.
  • Prepare case files for negotiation of settlements, including aspects of damages and liability.
  • Prepare for and attend trial proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and depositions.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs.
  • Argue motions in court on behalf of clients.
  • Stay updated on changing laws and statutes on local, state, and federal levels.
  • Maintain active membership in good standing with Kansas and Missouri state bar associations.
  • Exceptional time management, interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills are desired.
  • Previous experience advocating for clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an attorney.
  • Active membership in good standing with Kansas and Missouri state bar associations.
  • Additional state Bar admissions (such as Illinois, California, etc.) are beneficial.

 

Education:
