A law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join their New York, NY office. The Associate Attorney will collaborate closely with shareholders, engaging in business development and client-facing activities. They will handle a range of litigation tasks, including drafting complaints and motions, conducting discovery, appearing in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts, negotiating settlements, and communicating with opposing counsel and clients. Experience in creditors’ rights law, including collateral repossession, the Uniform Commercial Code (Articles 2, 2A, and 9), equipment leasing, and commercial finance law is preferred. Deposition and case management experience are also desirable.

 

Duties:

  • Work closely with shareholders to engage in business development and client-facing activities
  • Draft complaints, motions, and other legal documents
  • Conduct discovery and appear in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts
  • Negotiate settlements and correspond with opposing counsel and clients
  • Handle matters related to creditors’ rights law, including collateral repossession and the Uniform Commercial Code
  • Utilize deposition and case management skills effectively

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent with strong academic credentials
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant state or in the process of obtaining admission
  • 3-4 years of experience in both general commercial litigation and bankruptcy

 

Education & Certifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in drafting legal documents
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Experience in federal, state, and bankruptcy court proceedings
  • Knowledge of creditors’ rights law and the Uniform Commercial Code
  • Deposition and case management expertise
