Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm in Winston Salem, NC, is seeking a qualified Patent Agent with expertise in intellectual property (IP) matters, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in chemistry or chemical engineering and be a member of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Duties:

• Conducting patent searches and analyses to assess the patentability of inventions.
• Drafting and preparing patent applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
• Managing patent prosecution, including responding to office actions and communicating with examiners.
• Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for patent filings.
• Providing technical expertise in patent-related matters.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (Advanced degrees are strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in patent prosecution.
• USPTO membership is mandatory.
• Strong chemistry background.
