Litigation Attorney

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a Litigation Attorney with NY litigation experience to handle matters involving professional liability or labor and employment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing clients in all phases of litigation, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and negotiating settlements.

Job Overview:

The Litigation Attorney will play a key role in representing clients throughout the litigation process, from initiation to expert discovery. This role involves attending court appearances, hearings, and depositions, conducting complex legal research and discovery investigations, drafting various legal documents, and negotiating settlements with opposing counsel. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this fast-paced and demanding environment.

Duties:

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including expert discovery
• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences
• Conduct complex legal research and discovery investigations
• Draft discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, and legal memoranda
• Review discovery responses and prepare summaries and litigation update reports
• Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims
• Communicate closely with clients to provide legal analysis, status reports, and advice

Requirements:

• NY litigation experience
• Admission to the New York State Bar
• Experience drafting discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions
• Excellent writing and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Proficiency in Lexis software
• Strong preference for background in General Liability or Labor and Employment Law
• Knowledge of federal and state rules of civil procedures

Education:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

Admission to the New York State Bar
