Associate Attorney Defense Base Act

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its team in New Orleans, LA. This role focuses on managing Defense Base Act (DBA) claims and involves providing comprehensive legal support, strategic case evaluation, and effective client communication. Duties

• Manage a caseload of Defense Base Act claims, providing thorough legal analysis and strategic solutions.
• Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, and correspondence with clients, the Department of Labor, and opposing counsel.
• Review and summarize claims documentation, such as medical records, incident reports, and employment files.
• Evaluate legal files to determine recovery potential, calculate recoverable amounts, and identify necessary additional documentation.
• Represent clients in conferences with the Department of Labor to address case-specific issues and drive resolution.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients about their DBA and War Hazards Compensation Act claims.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience managing and analyzing legal claims, particularly in the Defense Base Act or similar areas.
• Strong legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
• Effective communication abilities to provide clients with concise, accurate guidance and representation.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when necessary.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited institution.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Louisiana.
