Job Overview:
A prominent regional law firm is seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney to join its Offshore Energy and Marine Litigation Practice in New Orleans. The position is open to candidates pursuing either a Partnership Track or a Reduced-Hour Staff Attorney role. Ideal candidates will have at least three years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for prior exposure to offshore maritime matters. This is an opportunity to work on complex litigation involving marine and energy-related legal issues in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Location:

  • New Orleans, LA

Duties:

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution

  • Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents

  • Provide counsel to clients on maritime, offshore energy, and related environmental issues

  • Advise on matters involving marine insurance, shipping regulations, and compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client communication and case updates

  • Build and maintain client and referral relationships through proactive engagement

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of litigation experience

  • Prior experience in offshore energy or maritime law highly preferred

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Active member in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar

  • Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and professional excellence

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Louisiana

Skills:

  • Maritime and offshore litigation

  • Case strategy and litigation management

  • Legal analysis and regulatory interpretation
